Number Match Up A shoe box to house the materials. This can be plastic or a regular shoe box you would get from Wal-Mart, Payless, or any other shoe store. Contents of the of the shoe box: clothes pins with a number card glued onto the top of it, individually cut cards with a particular number of items on it, a container to store individually cut cards. Laminate all materials you are able to in order to get longer life out of them. All the materials must fit inside the shoe box.

Number Match Up

This activities focuses on a variety of skills: one-to-one correspondence, counting, number identification, and fine motor

  • The child randomly picks a card with a particular number of items on it
  • Counts the number of items on the card
  • Finds the clothes pin with the correct corresponding number glued to it
  • Match them up by clipping them together.
  • After activity is complete, the child places everything back into the shoe box.

Variation to the activity: As the child is unclipping the card with the items on it; have them tell you the number (number identification) as they are putting them back in the shoe box. Activity has been completed, cleaned up, and ready for the next time.
